Michael Dale Paulsen joined the VFW in February 2023. In April of 2023, he was named Post Adjutant.
As Post Adjutant, he strives to keep post members well informed about activities of the post. It is his responsibility to prepare all reports and maintain the books and records in a legible and uniform manner.
He is also a member of the Military Order of the Cooties.
After growing up in Verndale, Minnesota, Michael joined the US Army in February 1983 and trained to become a 98G Voice Intercept Operator. His last position supported Special Operations at Ft. Huachuca, AZ. Michael retired in 2003 after 20 years and 8 months of service.
During his service, he distinguished himself and was awarded:

• 3 Army Commendation Medals
• 8 Army Achievement Medals
• The Valorous Unit Award
• 6 Good Conduct Medals
• The National Defense Service Medal twice
• SW Asia Service Medal with 3 Bronze stars
• Humanitarian Service Medal
• Multiple other ribbons and awards
• He also earned the Gold Shützenschnur (Weapons Qualification) Badge while training with the German Army.
He completed both Airborne and Air Assault training. Over the years, he attended many additional schools including the Basic Non-commissioned Officers Course.
During his service he has been assigned to many prestigious Army units such as the 101st Airborne Division, 82nd Airborne Division, 3rd Special Forces Group, 25th Infantry Division, and 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment.
He earned an Associate of Arts in Business Administration. Plus, Michael is fluent in the French language and is conversational in both German and Russian.
In 2009, he married his Thai wife, Natthanan. A resident of Thailand for 15 years, he and his wife enjoy traveling around the world. He is also the proud father of three daughters from a previous marriage.
