Since 1972, there have been three VFW Posts that have called Pattaya, Thailand home.
The current post, VFW Post 9876 named after Fred J. Estes, has been serving the Pattaya, Thailand community for over 43 years.
The first organizational meeting of the Post was held on March 7, 1981, where it was originally named after Comrade Elmer Stearl "E.S.” Hamilton, MGSGT, USMC (Ret). The following April, the first General Membership Meeting was held with twelve members present.
As the Post grew, veterans came to know that Post 9876 was their home away from home.
And from those humble origins, the Post now has over 400 members, located all over the world.
Over the years, VFW Post 9876 has sponsored or provided financial and labor assistance to multiple charities, organizations, and events.
Members of the Post and Auxiliary have conducted food giveaways during the Covid pandemic, gifted clothing and schoolbooks and supplies to local children, and provided visitation and medical equipment to the sick.
